Home business forums – About My Business
About My Business has been running since October 2006. It aims to provide a directory in which UK small businesses can list themselves and promote their services or products; provide a forum for business owners in which they can discuss and share ideas, thoughts, questions and answers on a wide range of business-related matters; and create a library of useful and knowledgeable articles written by members themselves.
The site is free, and as soon as you have registered you can become an active participant in the forums and contribute articles and expertise to the site. The business finder directory is also free, but you can pay to have a premium listing or to promote your business through banner ads.
A relatively new feature on this site is the business clubs. This is where you can join in and contribute to clubs that focus on specific issues. Current clubs include eCommerce Club, Entrepreneurs Club and the Twitter Club amongst many others.
There are nine forum categories:
- Business money management forum – for all finance-related topics, including tax, VAT, business expenses
- eCommerce – for discussions on topics such as PayPal, eBay accounts etc. It’s also a good place to recruit testers for online shops
- Business chat – for general discussions that aren’t linked to a specific category
- Internet – web discussions
- IT questions – your technical queries answered
- Legal issues – covering all areas of business law and related topics such as insurance
- Marketing – for discussions on marketing and public relationsBusiness brainstorm – get feedback on your business ideas and thoughts, invite others to review your website, and more
- Business tenders – this is where you can post requests for specific service
Complementary to the forum is the business networking section, where you can find blogs, business experts and request specific business support.
